Costs and Charges

Executive Summary

RBIM Investment Management is committed to full transparency and fair value in all aspects of its charging structure. This document provides a detailed explanation of the costs involved in investing through our model portfolios, ensuring clarity for advisers and clients alike.

Total Cost Components

The total cost of investing typically comprises the following components:

  • Adviser Fee

  • Platform Fee

  • Portfolio Management Fee (MPS Fee)

  • Ongoing Charges Figure (OCF)

  • Transaction Costs

Adviser Fee

This fee is agreed directly between the client and their financial adviser. It covers services such as initial advice, ongoing reviews, and financial planning. Adviser fees vary depending on the complexity of advice and are disclosed in the personal recommendation provided to the client.

Platform Fee

Charged by the investment platform (e.g., abrdn, Aviva, Quilter), this fee covers custody of assets, execution of trades, and provision of online access and reporting tools. Platform fees are set independently by each provider and disclosed in platform documentation.

Portfolio Management Fee (MPS Fee)

This fee is charged by RBIM for managing discretionary model portfolios. It includes asset allocation, portfolio design, ongoing monitoring and rebalancing, governance oversight, and due diligence on underlying fund managers. The fee is typically expressed as a percentage of portfolio value and shown explicitly on platform documentation.

Ongoing Charges Figure (OCF)

The OCF represents the weighted average cost of the underlying funds within each portfolio. It includes fund manager charges, administration fees, and audit costs. The OCF is embedded within the funds and not charged by RBIM. Current OCFs are disclosed on model portfolio factsheets and updated regularly.

Transaction Costs

Transaction costs occur when underlying funds buy or sell securities. These costs are incurred at the fund level and are a normal part of active investment management. They are disclosed within the OCF methodology and monitored as part of our due diligence process.

Transparency and Fair Value

  • No hidden fees, performance charges, or entry/exit penalties applied by RBIM.

  • Full cost breakdown provided in platform and adviser documentation before investment.

  • Annual review of model costs to ensure fair value in line with Consumer Duty obligations.
